Jesus Heart Church rises impressively among the fabulous houses of the Main Square. Completed in 1894, the church is one of the most beautiful neo-Gothic churches of the country. It was designed by the Viennese architect, Ludwig Shöne and its construction started in spring of 1892. By April, 1984 its polychrome painting was completed by the Viennese Otto Kott workshop. Its blessing ceremony took place on 23 September, 1894. It was dedicated on its 50th anniversary, on 18 June, 1944 when the whole town was offered into the protection of Jesus Heart.

The downtown is worthily named the Jewel box of Hungary. In Jurisics Square several historic buildings like the Pharmacy Museum, Saint Emeric Chruch and Saint James Chruch can be admired. Some of the houses were built during the Ottoman times.

Jurisics Castle is named after its best-known captain. Originally built in Gothic style, the castle consists of an outer and an inner part surrounded by a moat respectively. The most known siege of the castle was the one in 1532 against Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent leading to Vienna. Captain Miklós Jurisics and his small crew defended the town for 25 days. The bells are tolled at 11.00 am. every day in the town as according to the local legend, the last Turkish soldiers left Kőszeg at 11.00. For his efforts, Captain Jurisics was promoted to the rank of Baron by Ferdinand I. From 1695 until 1931, the castle was owned by the Esterhazy family. The most important reconstruction of the castle started in 2011 and lasted for 2 years.
